My office is located in the Boardman House at 120 E. Buffalo St., in centrally isolated, yet beautiful, downtown Ithaca, New York; close to both Cornell University (my undergraduate alma mater) and Ithaca College.  I am also the recipient of a master’s degree from the  clinical social work program at Syracuse UniversityMy human service experience extends back to 1981 when I began working for various agencies with diverse populations in the states of Arizona, Idaho, New Jersey, and New York. I began my individual and family clinical experience  in 1997. It has taken place in university, community, and private practice settings.   I have been in  private practice in Ithaca since 1999.

 

I counsel individuals, families and couples from within the Central New York area in my private practice.  I welcome clients of ethnic and racial minority ancestry, multi-racial adoptive families, as well as, descendants of Caucasian and European origin.

 

CLIENT POPULATIONS: middle-school age children, adolescents, college students, young adults, middle age adults, couples and families.

 

 

 

ORIENTATION: Family Systems Theory, Psychodynamic theory, Cognitive Behavioral theory, Object Relations theory, Post-Constructionist Narrative theory and Self Psychology theory.

 

TECHNIQUES: Brief therapy, Narrative therapy, Solution Focused therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, meditation, breath work and dream work.

 

ISSUES:  ADD/ADHD, anxiety/panic, anger, bipolar disorder, creativity, couples, depression, divorce/separation, eating disorders, emotional abuse, ethnicity issues, gender issues, grief/loss, interpersonal relationships, life stage transitions, manic depression, marital growth/problems, obsessive compulsive disorder, parenting/family, physical abuse, personal development, post traumatic stress disorder, racism, schizophrenia, spiritual identity, trauma, work issues.

 

FEE POLICY:  There are numerous health insurance plans, some of which I participate in: Aetna, Excellus, Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Cornell Student/Staff & Faculty Health Insurance, Evergreen, HealthNow, Ithaca College Student/Staff & Faculty Health Insurance, United Behavioral Health, United HealthCare, POMCO and many where I am eligible for payment as an out-of-network or nonparticipating healthcare provider, i.e., Value Options.  When considering using employer provided or private health insurance please feel free to call my office and I will determine my eligibility to receive payment from your insurer.  Individuals who receive Medicare B benefits and also have supplemental insurance, such as AARP please feel free to call for an appointment.

 

Those who wish to pay out of pocket please call to receive a per session fee quote.  I utilize a sliding fee scale for those who do not have insurance and have some financial hardship.
